State water officials checking for contamination from Antlers Bridge project

State water officials are examining whether heavy rain and snow caused excessive lake contamination last month at a massive freeway bridge project north of Redding.

The Regional Water Quality Control Board is investigating two incidents where murky runoff water poured from the Antlers Bridge construction site at Lakehead into Lake Shasta last month, said George Day, senior water resource control engineer at the water board’s Redding office. Read more
